I am a passionate researcher with a diverse academic journey that led me to the intersection of computational biology and drug discovery. My love for science ignited during my middle and high school years when I was admitted to the prestigious National Organization for The Development of Exceptional Talents (nodet.net) through a national scientific entrance exam in Iran. Pursuing Chemical Engineering at the Sharif University of Technology (SUT), I simulated a natural gas liquids unit for my Bachelor's dissertation.
To expand my knowledge, I pursued a Master's degree at the same university, joining Dr. Mohammad Shahrokhi's group and focusing on modeling and process control. My Master's thesis involved designing an advanced controller (generalized predictive control) for an ethylene oxide reactor.
After completing my Master's, I worked as a researcher at Iran's Petrochemical Research & Technology Company. I also served as a teaching assistant for the "Process Control Laboratory" course at SUT. This experience motivated me to pursue a research and teaching career. I started my graduate studies at Pennsylvania State University (PSU) and joined Dr. Costas Maranas's group, where I focused on Computational Protein Engineering. My research involved leveraging computational protein design tools, such as IPRO and Rosetta, for altering protein functionality.
Later, I joined Dr. Zemer Gitai's group at Princeton University's Department of Molecular Biology. Our interdisciplinary team used deep learning to develop antibiotics effective against gram-negative bacteria. I enhanced my skills in deep learning and bioinformatics, leveraging state-of-the-art drug discovery platforms, Deepchem, and ChemProp.
Now, I aspire to delve deeper into computational biology, particularly applying artificial intelligence and machine learning in drug discovery. My goal is to develop novel computational tools and algorithms that can significantly contribute to medical science.
